Dental Emergencies

If you have a dental emergency in Murphy, TX, we want you to call our office as soon as possible.

We make time in the daily schedule to treat patients with emergencies and will always work to get you in front of our emergency dentist as soon as possible.

After you’ve arranged your emergency visit, there are a few things you can do in the meantime.

If your tooth was knocked out, put it in a cup of milk until your emergency dental visit. Taking this step—along with prompt treatment—may mean your dentist can reset the tooth.

If you have a toothache or swelling, we recommend taking an over-the-counter pain reliever if you’re medically able. You can also try an icepack to ease your discomfort.

However, if you’ve sustained an injury—a car accident, for example—we want you to visit the hospital and contact us after you’ve been stabilized. Your safety is the top priority!

Dental Implants

Dr. Anshu Jain has gone through rigorous training to do dental implant surgeries, and she places most of her implants herself.

In fact, we fabricate our own dental implants so patients don't need to seek external services.

When you have one or more missing teeth, it can impact the overall look and feel of your smile. Tooth loss can also lead to a variety of health problems, including potential jaw joint complications and bone loss. Dental implants are an excellent solution for restoring your smile and getting your oral health back on track.

If you’re missing a tooth and are looking for dental implants in Murphy, TX, keep reading.

At Smiles at Murphy, we focus on providing safe, permanent, and natural-looking low-cost dental implants to restore the strength and appearance of your original tooth.

What Are Dental Implants?

When both your tooth and root are damaged, the best permanent replacement is a dental implant along with a dental crown. These restorations look and function like your existing teeth. We are happy to offer dental implants and porcelain restorations to bring the beauty back to your smile.

All our patients are as unique as their fingerprints, which means their fears and anxieties are also personalized. Some patients have had a terrible experience with another dentist, while others dislike the vibrations of dental tools.

Regardless of your discomfort, our goal is to overcome it together.

Many of our patients don't have dental insurance and that is why we have a loyalty plan that offers patient discounts on most dental treatments and coverage for yearly check-ups and teeth cleanings.

In our many years of experience, we have noticed that almost all patients can begin to skip their dental check-ups if insurance is an issue. Learn About Our Membership

Dental memberships in Murphy, TX are non-refundable once treatment starts. We cover dental cleanings every six months.

Discounts cannot be used on any dental treatments addressing injury-related lawsuits or workers' compensation insurance.

Our plan only covers dental services finished at Smiles at Murphy. Patients with gum disease are allowed two maintenance cleanings instead of regular cleanings.

Discounts do not apply to any treatment started before enrollment or after memberships expire.

Deep cleanings in Murphy are a procedure that we recommend to patients who have gum infection or gum disease. It allows us to remove bacterial buildup from infected soft tissue. Deep cleanings usually involve more than one dental visit to treat individual parts of the mouth at a time, while basic dental cleanings can be done in one dental visit.

Often, deep cleaning is the start of the periodontal or gum treatment in Murphy and continues for a year or more.

After the first deep cleaning, we see patients every 3 to 4 months.

The Difference Between Basic Cleanings and Deep Cleanings

Deep cleanings get rid of bacterial buildup from infected gum tissue. Routine dental cleanings remove bacterial buildup from healthy gums.

We may need to administer a local anesthetic during a deep cleaning to keep patients comfortable. The anesthetic numbs the mouth and gums so patients don't feel any discomfort.

Since deep cleanings are more involved, we use specific dental tools like dental lasers to sterilize the gums and allow the mouth to heal.

Practice Healthy At-Home Oral Habits

Dental neglect is the main reason why deep cleanings become necessary, which is why we always advocate for patients to brush and floss every day—no matter how tired you are at the end of the day.

Teeth Whitening

The longevity of your teeth whitening in Murphy, TX depends on a few factors. First, we recommend professional teeth whitening under the supervision of a dentist. For prescription-grade whitening, there is simply no other option.

Other factors include your dietary choices. Your dentist or a member of our team can help you choose foods that are not staining, but as a rule, the following foods and drinks can discolor your teeth:

  • Coffee
  • Tea
  • Bright sauces
  • Berries

It would be best if you also avoided tobacco—not only to increase the longevity of your teeth whitening but to lower your risks for periodontal disease, oral cancer, and body health complications.

Finally, we recommend brushing and flossing twice daily or after every meal. You should also rinse your mouth thoroughly if you indulge in tooth-staining foods and drinks.

With diligence, your professional teeth whitening treatment results can last for two to three years. If you opt for one of our take-home kits, you can touch up your results periodically as well.

Ask Your Murphy, TX Dentist Whether Professional Teeth Whitening Is Right for You

We always start you with a consultation to make sure our products are safe for your smile. If you would like to arrange a consult or have questions for our team, give us a call today.

Before your Murphy, TX dentist whitens your smile, we always make sure your teeth and gums are in shape for our products. We consider any oral health issues as well as restorations.

If all is well, your dentist talks to you about our teeth whitening options, including in-office whitening and a take-home kit.

And we always recommend trusting your whitening to a dentist! With products purchased on your own, it’s impossible to tell whether the ingredients are suitable for your smile. Harsh products can leave you with uneven results and ongoing tooth sensitivity.

With professional teeth whitening, you may experience mild tooth sensitivity, but it does not last. If you’re using a take-home kit, your dentist may suggest taking a few days off if you notice sensitivity. It’s also possible that you’re using too much product, and it is leaking onto the gums.

If you notice sensitivity, give us a call. A member of our team can assess your situation and make the best recommendation.
